Campaign: Forgotten Realms

THE WORLD

It is the year 1367, the month of June. The Silver Marches is slowly recovering from the orc invasion that ravaged its northern regions, which ended with Greneire's defeat. Obould decided to take the clans in hand and withdrew from Felbarr north into the mountains to pursue his old dream of an orc kingdom that could live in harmony with its neighbors.

Myrkul has also returned to the ranks of the living. His awakening ritual was performed in Deerwater, in which Myrkul drained the life force entirely from his last priest, Sayton. After this, Myrkul stepped back into his domain and reclaimed the portfolio that had once belonged to him. Myrkul's return caused great astonishment, and his cult may spread out from Deerwater to elsewhere.

Sayton's assistant Samuel Grimm was freed of his debt to Sayton, and for the first time in his life is ready to do anything. However, he doesn't want to take over Myrkul's cult, and may instead return to doing research work. He agreed with the players to look further into the legendary Tear of Samuel, an instrument dating back to the era of ancient Netheril. Besides the instrument, there are about a dozen other legendary items still waiting to be found.

Silverymoon's Grand Duke, Frederic Tempest, is already an aged ruler. His lifelong plan has been to unite the Silver Marches into one great realm. Besides Silverymoon, the region has other cities, such as the free city of Everlund and Sundabar, the fortress-like seat of the Ikuisen Tulen ritarikunta. The region is also home to the dwarven kingdom of Adbar, and the brand-new dwarven settlement of Felbarr, which returned to the dwarves once the orcs left.

In addition, about a dozen different barbarian tribes live outside the cities and villages.

Because of this, Elara was prepared to kill Sayton and sacrifice her own life, but the party managed to stop Elara's actions, and they ended up helping each other. SESSION RECAPS

Session 1 — [2026-05-23]

  • The party got a tip that Deerwater's baron is imprisoned in a nearby logging camp
  • The party traveled from Deerwater to the logging camp
  • The guards watching the camp had slept poorly, were tired, and gladly left the camp
  • The party discovered that a Deep Dreamer had taken up residence in the area. It had taken control of the imprisoned loggers and the baron by controlling their dreams
  • The party defeated the Deep Dreamer in a long battle, in which Myrbec briefly dropped to 0 hit points, but thanks to Lambert's quick action didn't die.
  • The situation was left at the point where the party can begin talking with the baron.

Session 2 - [2026-06-20]

  • The group rescued bardon Camryn Hebert from the camp
  • The baron was quickly brought up-to-date on current affairs in his domain, Deerwater
  • Baron decided Deerwater might not be safe yet; he doesn't know who's in charge, who to trust
  • Baron remembered it was a courier named Maren who brought a message from Grand Duke of Silverymoon, Frederick Tempest, to him. The message required his immediate presence in Silverymoon to discuss the orcs.
  • Camryn had no reason to believe the message was not genuine. The seal, protocol and everything was correct.
  • Baron only understood something was wrong when he realized they weren't going in the direction of Silverymoon. After that he remembers nothing.
  • Baron is worried there's something wrong in Silverymoon and the Grand Duke might have a problem.
  • Baron wants to meet his daughter in Rimehill, since she's not heard of Camryn after Camryn was captured. Baron's daughter just recently married Adriel, the son of Rimehill's baron, Rolar Copeland.
  • Camryn remembers Maren was wearing a golden lion in her dress, which is the symbol for the Watchful Order, guild of mages in the North.
  • The group traveled back towards Deerwater, decided to camp outside it and gave buffs for the baron so he has 4 hours time to figure out the situation in Deerwater.

[Add a new section after each session.]

GM NOTES — ONGOING THREADS

Story threads that are live and should inform NPC behaviour and atmosphere:

  • The party doesn't know about the mage guild's Night Watch faction's role in the Silver Marches.
  • Night Watch is a secret group of magic-users whose goal is to seize power in the Silver Marches. They have already succeeded in making magic-user registration mandatory in the Silver Marches. This, in turn, is done so that magic-users can be monitored, and Night Watch can pick the best of them and train them for its own purposes.
  • Rinki is a thieves' guild. Some of Rinki's members have suspected that not all magic-users have entirely clean hands, and they smuggle magic-users out via secret routes.
  • Night Watch has not yet decided to act openly.
  • The baron knows that he was kidnapped by someone wearing the mage guild's emblem. That's why he needs to go to Silverymoon to see the duke.
  • Night Watch secretly monitors the individuals it knows about.
