Ianben Shieldheart
Ianben is a ranger and hails from Jalanthar, where he has lived his whole life with his brother Tery. Ianben is known as a hunter, and his brother, meanwhile, ran the wagon caravan essential to the village's local commerce.
Sometime in the spring of 1365, Tery got visitors who wanted to transport goods in his wagons. Tools and other supplies. Tery was paid well for it and traffic went smoothly. The goods were locally produced and were regularly packed at Tery's house.
At some point early in 1366, Tery learned that the goods weren't quite what he'd been told, and Tery refused to transport them any further. At this point Tery also told Ianben about these shipments. Very soon after this, Tery vanished and the local caravan shipments withered away. The disappearance wasn't immediately suspected, since Tery was often away on his travels. But after a few weeks, when he still hadn't returned, Ianben investigated Tery's house, and it looked as though Tery had been abducted from his home. Inside were signs of a struggle, and in the storeroom were found crates containing tools, supplies, and bottles of a white liquid.
Despite the time that had passed, Ianben managed to track a group that had traveled from the Jalanthar direction to a warehouse near Everlund. Ianben kept the place under watch. Many Everlund city guards were present, and Ianben is sure he also saw Malvin, whom he recognized from his earlier travels to Everlund. Once the group had left, Ianben broke into the warehouse and found there a cell containing Tery's clothes. In the neighboring cells were other people, who only wanted to get more snowflower extract. More snowflower extract was found in the warehouse.
In the warehouse's back yard was a fresh grave, in which Tery was found dead. In his anguish, Ianben burned down the warehouse and returned to Jalanthar swearing revenge, and soon after this a reward had already been offered for his head. Over the course of the summer, Ianben gathered a small group from his circle of acquaintances, with whom they tracked the guards' doings and decided to destroy the wagons the city guards were transporting and to stop the transport of snowflower extract to Everlund.
