High Forest

A gigantic, ancient forest, the largest wooded area in Faerûn. The last remnant of the age when all of Faerûn was covered by a great forest. Only a few travel deeper into the forest. Gigantically tall trees, dense undergrowth, and difficult terrain. In Everlund, people speak of forest spirits that guard deep within the woods.

The wooded area is roughly 300 miles tall and wide. The forest's outer edge is still mostly easily traversable, until the undergrowth thickens and the terrain becomes difficult to traverse the deeper one goes into the forest.

The High Forest is also home to one of Faerûn's tallest mountain ranges, in the forest's southern reaches, the Star Mounts, whose snowy peaks are visible far beyond the forest as well. Further north in the forest are two other, lower mountains, called the Lost Peaks.

The elven realm of Eaerlann is known to have once stood in this forest region, which vanished when Ascalhorn's devils destroyed it in the year 882.
