Malvin Draga's Old Manor
The manor is located a few hours' journey west of Everlund, about a kilometer from the Rauvin River, atop a small hill. West of the manor the hill is very steep, and the forest of Silverwood begins at its base. There are other manors in the area too; among others, Rudi's manor isn't very far from here.
Malvin's manor is very old, one of the oldest in the area. It was once much larger, and a stone wall once encircled it. Little remains of the stone wall now except a long, slightly raised ring that circles the manor grounds. There were also other buildings on the grounds, of which only ruined foundations remain.
The manor's main building is well maintained. It's a two-part, L-shaped building. The left wing is a two-story residential building, and the right wing looks like a temple built adjoining the residence, with a round tower at its end. Separate from the main building are the stables and the servants' quarters.
No one lives on the manor grounds anymore, however. After Malvin fled and a unit of Everlund's army arrived at the scene, his girlfriend (Zaphara) and the servants each went their own way.
A unit of Everlund's army has taken up quarters in the servants' houses. Their task is to guard the manor in case Malvin tries to return. Initially, their task was also to search the manor thoroughly and send any material found to Everlund for Malvin's trial. However, three soldiers died while investigating the cellar of the manor's right wing, and the rest now refuse to go there at all, even to retrieve the bodies.
The soldiers died near the cellar entrance, at the bottom of the stairs. The bodies are badly burned, and the corridor walls are blackened for about 3 meters. With a DC15 Investigation check, a large, just barely visible circle can be found on the floor, along with symbols encircling it. These are the remains of a Glyph of Warding placed there, which is no longer active, however. When the soldiers arrived, it activated and burned them to death.
A short way past the soldiers' bodies, the corridor continues sloping downward for about 10 meters, until it reaches massive double doors. In front of the doors, to the right, is a burnt-out torch in a wall bracket. The double doors are completely covered in dust and grime. Despite the dust, one can see that the doors are very ornate. Beneath the dust, in the middle of the doors, is a large metal coat of arms, already somewhat rusted. The coat of arms is a shield with a large rosette in the center. The shield is adorned with a knight's metal helmet, bordered by plumes coming from the helmet. The right-hand door is ajar just enough to pass through. The lower part of the right-hand door is also broken, with pieces of the door around. With a DC10 Investigation roll, one can make out strong impact marks on the door, from which it can be deduced that the door was broken open. The lock that was on the door has also been broken.
The cellar behind the door turns out to be a burial chamber, where the manor's owners were once buried. The final hall is a long, wide, low chamber, with statues along one wall and burial coffins at their base. The hall also has two skeletons, which Zaphara has raised as undead to guard the hall. The undead happen to be the sister once killed by Cornelius Dragomir and her husband. The statues are all different, and each is meant to represent the person buried in that particular grave. In the last two burial spots there is no statue, and the graves have also been dug open.
The skeletons are of different heights. The shorter skeleton is missing a piece from the top of its skull. It also has straggly long hair remaining, hanging from dried scraps of skin still attached to the skull. The skeleton also wears a ragged rag that reaches nearly to the ground. It was once purple in color. In its hand the skeleton holds a large wooden club. The skeleton also appears to have jewelry on its wrists as well as a pendant around its neck. The pendant is gilded, and is a rosette-shaped piece of jewelry.
On the taller skeleton, a ragged leather garment covers the chest. On its hands are worn gloves, and on its feet the remains of shoes can be seen. In one hand the skeleton holds a longsword. Beneath the leather garment covering the chest, broken ribs can be found at the chest.
Down below there should also be a room containing supplies needed for burials, as well as a chest containing at least a book telling a little about the Dragomirs, minus Cornelius, and a painting depicting Cornelius in full armor astride his white horse.
