Rivermoot
A small town at the confluence of the Surbrin and Rauvin rivers. A small path leads from the town to High Hold and Nesme. A tall palisade has been built around the town. Likewise, most of the houses are built up on tall stilts, since the spring floods each year raise the rivers' levels considerably. The houses stand as much as 3 meters high. The population is a few thousand.
The town was once a very lively trading post. Trade between Mithral Hall and Silverymoon passed through the village. Once trade with Mithral Hall dried up, the population has shrunk.
The surrounding countryside is favorable for sheep, which is nowadays one of the village's most important industries. The area outside the town is also more wilderness than it was, say, 100 years ago, so guides available from the town are still in demand. In spring, summer, and autumn, the town's harbor is an important stopover between Nesme and Silverymoon. The village is led by Baron Wulfrun Drumhurst. Inns Broken Arrow - The inn is run by Cilia, a cunning and crafty middle-aged woman. The building is a single-story log house, built up high on stilts. Lodging is mainly wooden bunk beds, like a hostel.
News of orcs is on everyone's lips, since several patrols have been encountered and many have slipped through the town's own patrols. In the aftermath of the attack on Winter's Edge, the place remains highly alert and the guards vigilant. Everyone capable has been put to work building and repairing the town's defenses. The town can indeed hold off a siege for a while, but plans to evacuate the residents have been started just in case.
Every now and then a group of fortune-seekers uses the village as a base as they set off to search for Mithral Hall. Several abandoned dwarven outposts can be found in the mountains across the Surbrin River, all of which have already been picked clean decades ago. No way into Mithral Hall has been found, however. Every so often, someone still manages to find long-lost dwarven artifacts.
Because of Mithral Hall, the town also has a small dwarven community, who mainly work as smiths, guides, or warriors.
